Design Engineer

About the role

As a Design Engineer at Ashby, you will bridge the gap between product design and engineering, turning design concepts into functional, high‑quality code. You’ll work closely with customers, product managers, and engineers to evolve our in‑house design system and deliver bespoke UI solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Redesign the mobile web app by conducting user interviews, wireframing new flows, and implementing them with our design system.
• Build flexible, composable React components (e.g., custom autocompletes) that can be reused across the platform.
• Consult with engineers on improving information hierarchy, scannability, and overall UI/UX of candidate assessment views.
• Expand and maintain Ashby’s design system, ensuring consistency and scalability.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to prototype, iterate, and ship features end‑to‑end.

Required profile

• Strong belief that engineers should be able to design and build.
• Experience turning design mockups (e.g., Figma) into production‑ready code.
• Comfortable conducting user research and translating feedback into UI improvements.
• Passion for creating intuitive, powerful software for talent teams.
