Data Governance Analyst – Property & Casualty Insurance

About the role

The Data Governance Analyst will join the Data Analytics Department of Desjardins General Insurance Group, supporting the strategic use of data across property and casualty insurance. You will help ensure data is secure, high‑quality, and leveraged effectively for members and clients while complying with regulatory and privacy requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Advise data producers and users on best practices to maximise data value within a sound governance framework.
• Perform complex data‑quality analyses, including profiling, gap identification and remediation across multiple sources.
• Document end‑to‑end data flows and transformation logic from capture to delivery.
• Develop and maintain governance logs, tools and dashboards to monitor data quality.
• Guide teams on applying data‑management processes and controls.
• Implement pragmatic governance approaches that improve operational efficiency and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead projects related to the development and enhancement of data‑governance capabilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Minimum four years of relevant experience in data governance, data quality or data analytics.
• Fluency in French and intermediate‑advanced proficiency in English.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on customer value and strategic thinking.

Required skills

• Data mining and manipulation expertise.
• Proficiency in a query language such as SQL, SAS or Python for exploratory analysis and profiling.
• Experience with Power BI or similar visualization tools for data‑quality monitoring.
• Knowledge of specialized data‑governance and data‑cataloging tools.
