Cyber Security Architect – Public Sector Ontario

About the role

The client in the Ontario public sector is seeking a senior‑level Cyber Security Architect to lead the design, implementation and evolution of the enterprise cybersecurity strategy and architecture. The role is full‑time, onsite five days a week, and runs from 29 June 2026 to 14 December 2026 with possible extension.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain secure enterprise architecture frameworks aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Assess existing security controls, identify gaps and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, cloud and business teams to embed security‑by‑design principles.
• Lead the deployment of modern cybersecurity technologies, including Microsoft Defender and Data Loss Prevention solutions.
• Monitor emerging threats and recommend proactive security enhancements.
• Support incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity and risk‑management activities.
• Participate in security assessments, audits and compliance activities (NIST, CIS, ISO).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in the public sector.
• Proven ability to design and implement enterprise‑wide security architectures.
