Customer & Programming Associate – Library (Part‑Time)

About the role

The Customer & Programming Associate joins the Customer Experience team at Burlington Public Library, providing proactive, customer‑focused service in person, by phone and online. Working 20 hours per week on‑site, the associate supports library technology use, program delivery and collection maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver courteous, proactive service to patrons in person, via phone and digital channels.
• Utilise the Integrated Library System and other tools to complete circulation, account, and tech‑support tasks.
• Teach and assist patrons with library technologies, troubleshooting issues as needed.
• Perform materials handling duties, ensuring shelves are organized and accessible.
• Support collection initiatives and programming under the guidance of the Branch Manager and Librarians.
• Participate in system‑wide teams, working groups and customer‑service projects.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree or post‑secondary diploma (Library Techniques diploma is an asset).
• Previous library or customer‑service experience is an asset.
• Experience delivering programs or workshops is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and a customer‑first orientation.

• Proficiency with an Integrated Library System.
• Basic troubleshooting of library technology.
• Ability to handle materials and maintain an organized collection.
