Custodian – Aquatic Centre

About the role

The University of British Columbia is seeking two part‑time custodians to maintain the UBC Aquatic Centre. You will work in a dynamic environment, ensuring the facility remains clean, safe, and welcoming for patrons throughout its extensive operating hours.

Key responsibilities

• Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, polish, shampoo, disinfect and scrub floors, walls, fixtures, furniture and appliances.
• Operate light‑ and heavy‑duty hand or power‑driven cleaning equipment as required.
• Maintain adequate supplies of cleaning materials and report equipment needs.
• Clean interior and exterior glass surfaces, windows and shades.
• Restock consumables such as toilet paper, soap, paper towels and sanitary products.
• Collect and dispose of garbage and waste, and keep outdoor areas clean, including snow removal when needed.

Required profile

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and adhere to safety procedures.
• Flexibility to work varying daytime and evening shifts, including weekends.
• Reliability in a fast‑paced, public‑facing environment.

Required skills

• Operation of hand and power cleaning equipment.
