About the role

The McGill Institute for the Study of Canada seeks a Course Lecturer to teach CANS 306 – Topics in Indigenous Public Affairs during the Fall 2026 term. The position involves delivering two weekly lectures, preparing course materials, and assessing student performance for a 3‑credit course.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver lectures on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 08:35 am to 09:55 am in MAASS 217.
  • Develop or adapt a course outline and syllabus covering Indigenous culture, political organization, leadership, land claims, education, and economic development.
  • Prepare and grade assignments, exams, and provide feedback to students.
  • Maintain records of attendance and grades in accordance with university policies.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development.

Required profile

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (PhD preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and teaching experience in Indigenous studies, including culture, governance, and economic development.
  • Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work on the Montreal campus.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

Required skills

  • Effective academic teaching and presentation abilities.
  • Curriculum design and syllabus development.
  • Student assessment and feedback provision.
