Course Lecturer – Topics in Canadian Studies (CANS 300)

About the role

The McGill Institute for the Study of Canada seeks a Course Lecturer to teach CANS 300 – Topics in Canadian Studies. This short‑term teaching assignment runs from August 31 to December 4, 2026, with classes scheduled on Fridays from 11:35 am to 2:25 pm in room FERR 408.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and facilitate discussions for a 3‑credit undergraduate course.
• Prepare and upload a course outline or sample syllabus.
• Assess student work and provide feedback.
• Integrate multidisciplinary content and guest speakers from diverse sectors.
• Maintain clear, accessible communication in English.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (PhD preferred or ABD) in Quebec History or a related field.
• Recognized expertise in the history of Quebec and Canada.
• University‑level teaching experience, preferably in related coursework.
• Ability to place students at the centre of the teaching process.

Required skills

• Curriculum development for undergraduate courses.
• Design of multidisciplinary course materials.
