About the role
The Department of Bioengineering seeks a Course Lecturer for BIEN 280 – Thermodynamics in Bioengineering for the Winter 2027 semester. The lecturer will deliver lectures, manage the course, and assess student work.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lectures covering internal energy, work, the three laws of thermodynamics, enthalpy, entropy, and related biological applications.
- Manage course logistics, including scheduling, assignments, and grading.
- Provide guidance on laboratory topics such as hydrolysis, osmosis, ELISA, PCR, and protein chemistry.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in Engineering or Natural Sciences.
- At least one year of teaching experience.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license or in progress.
- Strong command of spoken and written English.
- Ability to work with diverse, cross‑cultural student groups.
Required skills
- Fundamentals of thermodynamics and physical‑chemical equilibrium.
- Knowledge of biological systems and biochemistry.
