Course Lecturer – Environmental Hydrology (GEOG 322)

About the role

The Department of Geography at McGill University is seeking a Course Lecturer to teach GEOG 322 – Environmental Hydrology in the Fall 2026 term.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver lectures on Wednesdays and Fridays, 08:35 am‑09:55 am in Burnside Hall (BURN 306).
  • Cover introductory topics in environmental hydrology, including catchment concepts, precipitation, evapotranspiration, soil water, runoff processes, flood and drought extremes, and hydrology of lakes, wetlands, forests and permafrost regions.
  • Design, administer, and grade four take‑home assignments, an annotated‑bibliography project, a midterm exam, and a final exam.
  • Manage course materials, student communications, and grading records.

Required profile

  • PhD in physical geography or a related environmental science field.
  • Excellent understanding of catchment hydrology processes.
  • Strong communication and course‑management abilities.
  • Prior experience teaching undergraduate‑level hydrology is a definite asset.
