Co‑Op Data Analyst – Mississauga Transit

About the role

We are looking for a motivated co‑op student to join our Mississauga Transit team as a Data Analyst. This on‑site position provides hands‑on experience with real‑world data challenges, supporting decision‑making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist daily operational tasks and provide analytical support to supervisors.
• Perform data analysis to uncover patterns, trends, and actionable insights.
• Conduct research, consolidate findings, and present results in reports or presentations.
• Create dashboards and visualisations using Tableau or Power BI.
• Draft documents, prepare reports, and track key metrics and project outcomes.
• Support customer interactions via email, phone, or in‑person inquiries.
• Handle administrative duties such as data entry, filing, and basic troubleshooting.
• Participate in field visits and customer engagement activities as needed.
• Assist in developing and implementing internal programs, policies, and process improvements.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a post‑secondary co‑op program (Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Knowledge of statistical methods and their practical applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Comfortable working primarily in an office environment with occasional site visits.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (Python, SQL, or R).
• Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Familiarity with data management, databases, and data‑warehousing concepts.
