Cook's Helper Instructor – Terrace/Smithers

About the role

The College is seeking a term Instructor to deliver the Cook’s Helper Program for adult learners in the Terrace/Smithers region, with course delivery in Witset. This 420‑hour term runs from November 30, 2026 to March 12, 2027 and focuses on the theoretical techniques and practical skills required for line cook and kitchen helper positions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver curriculum aligned with the National Occupational Standards for Line Cook and Kitchen Helper.
• Teach, mentor and assess adult learners, providing feedback, correction and encouragement.
• Maintain a safe learning environment and oversee site safety procedures.
• Complete administrative duties, record‑keeping and monitoring of student progress.

Required profile

• Inter‑provincial Red Seal Certificate and Food Safe certification.
• Minimum five years of hospitality experience as a chef.
• Preferred: Provincial Instructional Diploma and at least three years of post‑secondary teaching experience in Professional Cook Level 1.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and successful criminal record check.
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, especially with local Indigenous communities.
