Cook – Korean Restaurant

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Cook to join POPLAR Korean Restaurant in Vancouver. In this full‑time position you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a wide range of Korean dishes, ensuring each plate meets our high standards for taste, presentation, and safety. You will work closely with the kitchen team to deliver a consistent dining experience for all guests.

Key responsibilities

• Determine portion sizes and calculate food costs for each menu item.
• Prepare and cook complete meals and individual dishes, including special meals for customers with allergies or intolerances.
• Train kitchen staff on proper preparation, cooking techniques, and safe food handling.
• Order supplies and equipment, maintain accurate inventory records, and supervise kitchen helpers.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and keep the kitchen and work areas clean.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation (high school diploma).
• 2 to less than 3 years of experience working in a restaurant kitchen.
• Willingness to participate in on‑the‑job training tailored for youth and to help create a welcoming work environment.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced kitchen setting.
