Cook – Full-time Kitchen Position

About the role

Laverne's is seeking a dedicated Cook to join its kitchen team in Gananoque, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of meals, ensuring quality and consistency, and supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen during the morning shift. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment serving both regular diners and special dietary needs.

Key responsibilities

• Determine portion sizes and calculate food costs.
• Plan menus and estimate ingredient requirements for daily service.
• Prepare and cook complete meals and individual dishes according to recipes.
• Prepare specialized meals for patients following dietitian or chef instructions.
• Supervise kitchen staff and helpers, ensuring proper food handling.
• Maintain inventory records of food, supplies, and equipment.
• Keep kitchen and work areas clean and compliant with health standards.
• Recruit and hire kitchen personnel as needed.
• Organize buffets and banquet setups for events.
• Manage overall kitchen operations during the assigned shift.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation certificate (high school diploma).
• 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Availability to work morning shifts.
