Controller / Senior Bookkeeper (Construction)

About the role

RENOVCO Inc., a construction company based in Dorval, Montreal, is seeking an experienced Controller or Senior Bookkeeper to lead its full‑cycle accounting function. Reporting directly to ownership and the operations team, you will ensure accurate project tracking, clean books, and audit‑ready financials.

Key responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and on time
• Manage full‑cycle accounts payable – verify, process, and pay supplier invoices
• Prepare, process, and track accounts receivable and client invoicing
• Prepare and submit monthly government tax remittances – DAS, GST, QST
• Record all cash receipts and maintain accurate general ledger entries
• Maintain an orderly and up‑to‑date accounting filing system in QuickBooks
• Monitor project‑level budgets and ensure margins are respected across active jobs
• Prepare month‑end financial reports and support year‑end audit process
• Work closely with project managers to track job costs against estimates
• Support the operations team with financial data as needed

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping or full‑cycle accounting experience
• QuickBooks proficiency – Online and/or Desktop (non‑negotiable)
• Fully bilingual French and English – written and spoken
• Experience with GST/QST filing and DAS remittances
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
• High attention to detail and professional demeanor
