Controller – Finance Leader

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to join the leadership team in the Tillsonburg, Ontario area. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will oversee financial operations, provide strategic insight, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes, delivering timely and accurate financial reports.
• Prepare and analyse financial statements, budgets, forecasts and cash‑flow reports to support business decisions.
• Oversee core accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory and general ledger.
• Develop, maintain and strengthen internal controls, financial policies and reporting procedures.
• Partner with operational leaders to evaluate performance and deliver financial recommendations.
• Coordinate external audits, tax compliance activities and relationships with external advisors.
• Support capital investment analysis, budgeting initiatives and long‑term financial planning.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting, streamline workflows and leverage technology for efficiency.

Required profile

• CPA designation required.
• 3‑5 years of progressive accounting leadership experience after designation.
• Proven experience preparing financial statements, managing budgets and supporting business planning.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, financial analysis, cash management and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop accounting professionals.
• Advanced analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities evolve.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
