Controller – Finance & Accounting Leader

About the role

Our client, a well‑established privately held organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the finance and accounting function. Reporting to senior leadership, you will ensure accurate, timely financial reporting, robust internal controls, and compliance with GAAP/IFRS while partnering closely with operations.

Key responsibilities

• Establish, maintain, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Lead and develop the accounting team and cross‑functional partners.
• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including transaction processing, AP, payroll, bank reconciliations, and balance‑sheet integrity.
• Manage the monthly close, ensure audit‑ready records, and maintain the chart of accounts.
• Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and board‑level materials.
• Develop KPIs, benchmarks, and performance metrics; analyze results and communicate insights.
• Mentor, coach, and manage hiring, onboarding, and performance of accounting staff.
• Lead special projects and process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Collaborative, values‑driven finance leader with strong attention to detail and high integrity.
• Proactive owner who partners well with operations and can both lead and roll up sleeves.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, CPA designation required.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and Office 365 proficiency.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards, Salesforce, or OneStream.
