Contract Specialist

About the role

The Contract Specialist will manage the full lifecycle of contracts for goods and services at Yara's Belle Plaine nitrogen fertilizer plant, ensuring value, risk mitigation, and alignment with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage service, supply, construction, engineering and maintenance contracts from sourcing through renewal, amendment and closeout.
• Prepare bid documents, scopes of work, commercial evaluations and contract terms that support compliance, safety and risk management.
• Partner with internal stakeholders, procurement, legal counsel, contractors and suppliers to resolve commercial issues and build strong relationships.
• Monitor contractor performance, compliance, expenditures and invoices, supporting audits, forecasting and cost control.
• Provide contracting expertise for plant turnarounds, major maintenance activities, capital projects and change orders.

Required profile

• Five or more years of experience in contract management, procurement, supply chain or commercial management, preferably in a heavy industrial environment.
• Strong contract drafting, negotiation and problem‑solving skills with a track record of cost savings.
• Knowledge of commercial and legal contract language, relevant legislation and strategic sourcing practices.
• Understanding of industrial maintenance, turnarounds and capital project contracting.
• Analytical, financial acumen and ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
