About the role

The Construction Officer will lead the coordination and supervision of capital construction projects across Southern Health‑Santé Sud. Reporting to the Manager of Projects & Facilities, you will work independently to ensure projects meet safety, quality, and schedule requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor all phases of capital construction projects, including safety and security initiatives.
  • Inspect work sites to verify that materials, specifications, and testing align with project plans.
  • Assist primary consultants in supervising construction contracts and administering on‑site reviews.
  • Prioritize work, determine methods, and resolve unusual issues with minimal direction.
  • Maintain compliance with Southern Health‑Santé Sud policies, mission, and values.

Required profile

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in major construction projects.
  • Five (5) years of comprehensive project planning and management, including facility space planning and LEED‑certified capital projects.
  • Experience with project management principles, processes, and procedures.
  • Background in construction trades such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Journeyman Tradesman certification, a Certified Engineering Technology program, or equivalent project/construction management qualification (other combinations may be considered).
