Construction Manager

About the role

BC Hydro is seeking a Construction Officer (Level 3) to act as the on‑site representative for major transmission, substation and hydroelectric projects across Northern British Columbia. The role involves overseeing daily construction activities, coordinating multiple contractors, and ensuring that all work meets BC Hydro’s safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor construction work on project sites between Prince George and Terrace.
• Coordinate subcontractors, schedule activities, and resolve on‑site issues.
• Conduct inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings, testing, surveying, planning and costing requirements.
• Support contract administration, including change orders and progress reporting.
• Maintain safety records and enforce safety regulations on‑site.

Required profile

• Diploma of Technology in Civil, Structural or Electrical engineering or equivalent trades background.
• Minimum 7 years of construction experience, preferably in utility infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of substations, transmission lines, hydro facilities, and related projects.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
• Willingness to work shift schedules (14/7 or 5/2) and undergo background, drug and alcohol testing.
