Computer Support Specialist – Tier 1 IT Support

About the role

Raytheon ELCAN is seeking a Computer Support Specialist to join its Digital Technology team in Midland, Ontario. You will provide Tier 1 technical assistance for end‑users, ensuring the reliability of computer systems and supporting daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Tier 1 technical support for information systems and devices.
• Assemble, configure, and upgrade PCs and peripherals.
• Install operating systems and load application software.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
• Organize and manage asset inventories.
• Terminate network cables and configure ports.
• Manage user accounts in Windows Active Directory.
• Handle logical data access management.
• Document bi‑weekly capture team meetings, distribute notes, and follow up on action items.
• Monitor training and compliance requirements for the capture team.

Required profile

• High school diploma or post‑secondary education in Information Technology or a related field.
• 1–2 years of relevant technical support experience.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and sound decision‑making.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for interaction with internal stakeholders and leadership.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of computer hardware.
• Proficiency with Windows operating systems.
• Experience with Windows Active Directory user management.
• Understanding of basic networking concepts.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to assemble, configure, and upgrade PCs.
• OS installation and application software loading.
• Network cable termination and port configuration.
• Asset inventory management.
