Communications Assistant B – Scribe (Greek & English)

About the role

The Communications Assistant B works as a scribe for students who have exam accommodations. The scribe records the student’s dictated answers verbatim and may read them back for verification, ensuring exam integrity and confidentiality.

Key responsibilities

• Write down verbatim the student’s spoken answers during examinations, using either handwriting or typing.
• Read back the recorded answers to the student when requested and produce any required diagrams, maps or symbols.
• Escort students to and from exam rooms as needed and keep the examination space tidy for subsequent sessions.
• Maintain strict neutrality, confidentiality, and adherence to exam regulations, reporting any incidents such as disturbances or cheating.

Required profile

• Current McGill student (senior undergraduate or graduate preferred) with a high school diploma.
• Fluent spoken, reading and writing skills in both Greek and English.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently under pressure.
• Commitment to equality, accessibility and respect for diverse learning needs.

Required skills

• Legible handwriting and accurate typing ability.
• Excellent listening and clear verbal communication for reading back text.
• Discretion, confidentiality and ability to follow strict exam protocols.
• Basic knowledge of French and English language levels (fluent).
