Commercial Meter Reader – City of Winnipeg

About the role

The City of Winnipeg is seeking a Commercial Meter Reader to collect water consumption data from commercial, industrial and residential properties across the city. This full‑time, permanent position works Monday to Friday, 8 am‑4 pm, and involves field work using a handheld meter‑reading device.

Key responsibilities

• Visit assigned customer locations to read water meters and record readings electronically.
• Inspect meters and bypasses for integrity, sealing or resealing as required.
• Verify unusually high or low consumption by checking plumbing, meters and bypasses.
• Leave a meter‑reading request when access is denied and follow up as needed.
• Maintain accurate logs and submit data to the central system.

Required profile

• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation for travel throughout Winnipeg.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures.
• Availability to work the scheduled hours of 8 am‑4 pm, Monday‑Friday.
