Cloud Developer – Infrastructure

About the role

As a Cloud Developer II on the Cloud Infrastructure team, you will design, build, and operate the foundational services that enable Petal’s product teams to ship with confidence. You will work closely with product engineers to translate platform needs into reliable, secure cloud solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain cloud infrastructure on Azure using Terraform and OpenTofu, following best‑in‑class IaC practices.
• Operate AKS clusters, manage Helm releases, configure ingress/TLS, cert‑manager, and Gateway API CRDs.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and GitLab deployment automation to increase delivery speed and reduce risk.
• Contribute to the internal developer platform with self‑service templates, golden paths, and tooling.
• Support observability, alerting, and incident response for shared services, including dashboards and runbooks.
• Harden security patterns across identity, access control, secrets, networking, and vulnerability scanning.
• Collaborate with product teams to provide platform capabilities without requiring them to become infrastructure experts.
• Write and maintain doc‑as‑code runbooks and operational guides.
• Leverage AI tools for scripting, research, and debugging while ensuring sensitive data is protected.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with a major cloud provider (compute, networking, storage, identity, secrets).
• Proficiency in IaC using Terraform or comparable tools, with ability to author reusable modules.
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation scripts.
• Solid working knowledge of Kubernetes (deployments, services, namespaces, troubleshooting).
• Foundational understanding of observability (metrics, logs, traces, alerting).
• Strong ownership mindset, clear communication of trade‑offs, and ability to stay focused on complex tasks.
