Claims Manager – Automobile Physical Damage (Waterloo)

About the role

Zurich Canada is seeking a Claims Manager to lead a team of technical claim professionals handling automobile physical‑damage claims across Ontario and Quebec. Reporting to the SVP, Retail Claims, you will ensure high‑quality service, operational efficiency, and compliance while fostering a supportive, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Drive superior claims results by providing direction, technical guidance, and tracking key performance metrics.
• Achieve customer‑satisfaction targets through relationship building with internal colleagues, customers, and brokers.
• Identify trends and deliver claims insights to support product development and business strategy.
• Coordinate and champion changes in requirements, strategy, and culture across the team.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal control requirements.
• Motivate and lead a high‑performance team by attracting, onboarding, recruiting, and retaining talent.
• Manage performance through clear expectations, feedback, and employee development.
• Leverage data and analytics to continuously improve processes, controls, and customer outcomes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in automobile claims (or equivalent education/experience combination).
• Minimum 2 years of people‑management experience.
• Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or actively working toward it.
• Strong knowledge of insurance legal statutes, regulations, and industry practices.
• Excellent organization, multitasking, data‑research, and analytical abilities.
• Customer‑service experience and ability to travel up to 25%.
• Bilingual French/English considered an asset.
