Civil Technologist – Transportation Major Projects

About the role

You’re a Civil Technologist ready to roll up your sleeves and work on major infrastructure projects. You thrive in collaborative teams, ask questions, and own your decisions while learning about design, approvals, construction, and project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare drafting and design tasks using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Develop basic design calculations, analyses, and reports.
• Perform and document quality‑control checks in line with Binnie’s quality management policies.
• Calculate material quantities and prepare cost estimates.
• Assist in preparing project specifications and contract documents.
• Conduct on‑site inspections and produce inspection reports.

Required profile

• 0–1+ years of experience in a civil consulting engineering environment.
• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field.
• Eligibility to register as a Trainee Registrant with ASTTBC or as a Technician/Technologist‑in‑Training with ASET within three months of hire.
• Hands‑on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred).
• Experience in stormwater management, civil roadworks, and servicing design (preferred).
• Field experience and a valid driver’s licence with own vehicle for site visits.
• Strong organization, time‑management, and communication skills.
