Child Care Assistant – Early Childhood Support

About the role

Join Eastern Star Preschool as a Child Care Assistant and support the daily care and development of infants, toddlers, and school‑age children in a vibrant early‑learning environment. You will work closely with early childhood educators to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist co‑workers with housekeeping and cooking duties.
• Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers.
• Maintain daycare equipment and ensure a clean environment.
• Lead storytelling, song, and craft activities for children.
• Support educators in delivering programs that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
• Prepare snacks, arrange rooms for meals and rest periods.
• Observe children for learning or behavioural concerns and prepare reports for parents or supervisors.
• Participate in staff meetings to discuss progress and challenges.
• Plan and organize before‑ and after‑school activities for school‑age children.

Required profile

• Child Development Assistant (ECE Level 1) certification.
• Emergency child‑care first aid and CPR certification.
• Clear criminal record, child‑abuse registry, and vulnerable‑sector checks.
• Own transportation and a valid driver’s licence.
• Reliability, punctuality, strong interpersonal skills, and teamwork orientation.

Required skills

• Knowledge of licensing regulations for child‑care centres.
