About the role

The Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA) is seeking a senior leader to serve as Chief Executive Officer and Registrar. Reporting to the Board, the incumbent will provide strategic, operational, and regulatory leadership for Ontario’s independent, not‑for‑profit regulator of retirement homes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the organization’s performance, financial stewardship, risk management, and execution of the strategic plan.
• Oversee licensing, compliance, inspections, enforcement and other statutory duties under the Retirement Homes Act.
• Advise the Board and maintain effective government relations with the Ministry.
• Ensure data‑informed, resident‑centred outcomes and public‑interest accountability.
• Drive regulatory improvement, risk‑based approaches, and public confidence in the RHRA.

Required profile

• Accomplished senior executive with experience in complex, mission‑driven or regulated public‑sector organisations.
• Strong business and financial acumen, governance and board‑relations expertise.
• Proven ability to interpret legislation and make sound regulatory decisions.
• Demonstrated ethical leadership, resilience, and executive presence.
• Commitment to resident well‑being and public‑interest mandate.
