Casual Personal Support Worker (PSW) – Community Home Care

About the role

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) provides direct, compassionate care to residents in a community home‑care setting. Working on a casual, part‑time basis, you will support patients’ physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with ambulation, feeding, bathing, grooming and other activities of daily living.
• Deliver care in accordance with nursing care plans, legislation and workplace routines.
• Document care activities accurately using the facility’s care‑planning system.
• Communicate effectively with team members, residents, families and other healthcare professionals.
• Support residents with dementia and palliative care needs when required.

Required profile

• Completed a PSW program or hold an HCA/CCA certification that meets provincial standards.
• Experience in long‑term care or community home‑care settings is preferred, especially with exposure to dementia and palliative care.
• Familiarity with care‑planning documentation systems.
• Strong English reading, writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate positively with staff and families.
