About the role
The Cashier will be the first point of contact for customers at Gros Morne Gas Bar, handling transactions and providing friendly service in a fast‑paced environment.
Key responsibilities
- Operate the electronic cash register and process cash, cheques, and Interac card payments.
- Scan items, calculate totals, and handle foreign‑currency exchange.
- Suggestive selling, stock shelves, and keep the counter area clean.
- Greet customers, accept reservations or take‑out orders, and bag merchandise.
- Weigh produce and bulk foods, and verify age for lottery, alcohol, or tobacco sales.
- Monitor entrances and exits, requesting proof of payment when needed.
Required profile
- Secondary school graduation certificate.
- 2–3 years of experience in cash handling or retail.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, pressure‑filled environment and stand for extended periods.
Required skills
- Electronic cash register operation.
- Interac machine usage.
- Price scanner proficiency.
