Cashier – Customer Service & Checkout

About the role

Join a locally owned Shoppers Drug Mart store and be the friendly face that welcomes customers, processes purchases, and ensures a smooth checkout experience. You will play a key part in delivering health, beauty and convenience services while keeping the customer at the centre of everything you do.

Key responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service, greet shoppers and maintain a warm demeanor.
• Accurately scan items, enter product data and handle cash, coupons, lottery tickets and PC Optimum transactions.
• Ask customers for their PC Optimum card at each transaction and apply loyalty discounts.
• Maintain a neat, organized checkout area and ensure proper merchandising (facing, signing, labeling).
• Follow loss‑prevention standards and control cash, lottery and stamp inventory.
• Comply with health and safety regulations, store policies, uniform and dress‑code guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as required to support store operations.

Required profile

• Strong planning, judgement and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to balance teamwork with efficient order processing.
• Organised, detail‑oriented and capable of accurate record‑keeping.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced retail environment.

Required skills

• Proficient in operating a cash register and point‑of‑sale system.
• Familiarity with the PC Optimum loyalty program.
