Carpenter – Facilities Management (Downtown)

About the role

The Facilities Management and Ancillary Services team at McGill University is seeking a skilled Carpenter to work on downtown projects. You will be responsible for constructing, modifying, and installing wooden fixtures, gypsum walls, furniture, and door hardware across campus facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Repair, construct, and install wooden fixtures, gypsum walls, and furniture.
• Install and maintain door hardware and related fittings.
• Perform routine maintenance and respond to 24/7 on‑call emergencies on a rotating basis.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and university policies.

Required profile

• DEP in Carpentry with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Competency card (asset) and ASP Construction safety card.
• Functional proficiency in both English and French (spoken, read, and written).
• Availability for a 38.75‑hour work week, Monday‑Friday 7:30 am–3:45 pm, plus one week of 24/7 on‑call duty every 7‑10 weeks.
