Carpenter – Construction & Maintenance

About the role

Soma Interiors Ltd. is seeking a skilled carpenter to join its construction team in Burnaby. The role involves working on a variety of commercial and residential projects, handling both new builds and renovation work. You will operate in noisy, dusty environments and must be comfortable with physically demanding tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join wood, wood substitutes and lightweight steel.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay sub‑flooring and erect walls and roof systems.
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in diverse settings.
• Use hand tools safely and efficiently throughout all tasks.

Required profile

• Efficient interpersonal skills and excellent oral communication.
• Team player with punctuality and reliability.
• Ability to work in noisy, dusty construction sites.
• Physical capability for bending, crouching, kneeling, heavy lifting and standing for long periods.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Accurate measuring, cutting and shaping of materials.
• Assembling and joining wood, wood substitutes and lightweight steel.
• Proficient use of hand tools.
• Basic knowledge of construction safety practices.
