Carpenter – Construction & Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking a skilled carpenter to join our construction team in Burnaby. The role involves building, maintaining, and repairing a variety of wooden structures across diverse sites, ensuring compliance with building codes and project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements and prepare layouts in accordance with building codes.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join wood, wood substitutes and lightweight steel to construct foundations, floor beams, subflooring, walls and roof systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware, and supervise a crew of 3‑4 workers.
• Estimate material costs, schedule site work, and ensure safety compliance on noisy, dusty, outdoor environments.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years of carpentry experience in construction, maintenance or renovation.
• Ability to work at heights, handle heavy loads and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly to job sites.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Accurate measuring, layout and cutting of wood and related materials.
• Proficiency with hand tools and basic power tools.
• Use of personal protective equipment such as steel‑toed boots, hard hat, safety glasses and safety vest.
