About the role
The Children’s Heart Centre at the University of British Columbia is seeking a Cardiology Research Assistant to support pediatric cardiac research. Working under the electrophysiology and cardiology research managers, you will help collect and manage sensitive patient data and contribute to ongoing studies aimed at improving outcomes for children with heart conditions.
Key responsibilities
- Interact with patients and families to obtain informed consent for research participation.
- Collect, enter, and verify patient data in online data‑collection systems following established protocols.
- Conduct basic literature searches, retrieve scientific articles, and maintain an EndNote reference library.
- Prepare recruitment packages and update study logs for ethics approvals, screening, enrolment, and specimen collection.
- Maintain study records, including scanning, printing, and filing of documents.
- Perform additional administrative and clerical duties as required.
Required profile
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling sensitive information.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and research staff.
- Understanding of research ethics and data‑management procedures.
- Capacity to work independently under supervision and meet project deadlines.
Required skills
- EndNote reference management software.
