Canola Breeding Summer Associate

About the role

We are looking for a Canola Breeding Summer Associate to join our Agricultural Solutions team at BASF in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. The role supports local and global canola breeding programs during the summer season, providing hands‑on experience in field trials and variety development.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in field trials for breeding programs, from land preparation and seeding to harvest and data collection.
• Manage variety development activities including pest control, pollination, plot maintenance, and supervision of casual employees.
• Conduct crop health diagnosis through daily monitoring of research plots and record observations.
• Work independently or as part of a team depending on the task.

Required profile

• Current enrollment in or recent completion (within 2 years) of a degree/diploma in Agriculture or a related field.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and flexibility to adapt plans as situations arise.
• Interest in canola development and ability to achieve individual and team goals.
• Previous farm or machinery experience is an asset but not required.

What we offer

• Hourly wage of $25 – $32.
• Overtime pay for evenings or weekends during peak periods.
