About the role

Innovasea, a company developing aquatic solutions for fish farming and fish tracking, is looking for an experienced, strategic full-time Buyer to join its Operations team in Bedford, Nova Scotia. Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the Buyer manages the procurement of materials and services essential to operations, keeping quality, cost-effectiveness and sustainability in mind. The role suits someone with a customer-first attitude, excellent communication skills and the ability to set priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Procure materials for assigned products and commodities, especially consumables and items requested by colleagues via purchase requisitions (tools, chemicals, packaging, wire and others).
• Build and maintain supplier relationships to secure competitive pricing, on-time delivery and quick problem resolution; act as main contact during price negotiations and complex commercial issues.
• With production and sales, monitor inventory levels and lead times to avoid shortages and excess stock.
• Support cross-functional projects and new product introductions with R&D and Marketing/Sales.
• Implement procurement strategies aligned with company goals and identify cost-saving and process-improvement opportunities.
• Monitor market trends and supplier performance, and follow company information security policies.
• Occasional travel to supplier sites may be required.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business or a related field, or willingness to enroll in such a program or the CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) program.
• Experience in a manufacturing organization.
• Understanding of supply chain processes and inventory management, and familiarity with manufacturing quality standards, compliance regulations and contract legal requirements.
• Analytical, negotiation and time-management skills, with a proactive, results-driven approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ERP software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
• Strong negotiation skills focused on cost reduction and value creation
