Buyer I – Procurement Specialist (22-month term)

About the role

AltaLink is seeking a Buyer I to support its procurement activities for a 22‑month term. The role reports to the Manager, Contracts and Sourcing and contributes to delivering reliable electricity across Alberta.

Key responsibilities

• Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring commitments are met and issues resolved.
• Support and manage competitive bid processes for materials and services, including document preparation, fairness monitoring, evaluation and recommendation.
• Negotiate, create and administer contracts, handling changes, amendments and dispute resolution.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships, identifying and cultivating key suppliers.
• Participate in process‑improvement initiatives aligned with corporate cultural pillars.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance or related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in procurement or supply‑chain management.
• Experience in the electrical utilities sector is an asset.
• Professional supply‑chain designation (SCMP, NISCL) or progress toward one is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP (asset).
• Familiarity with Oracle (asset).
