Business Operations Manager

About the role

The Business Operations Manager will oversee day‑to‑day operations of the UBC Dairy Education and Research Centre, ensuring financial self‑sustainability and compliance with university, provincial and federal regulations. Working closely with the Centre Director and the Animal Health, Welfare and Research Manager, this role supports academic, research and community activities on the Agassiz campus.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the annual operating budget, forecast revenue and expenses, and report financial performance.
• Supervise, coordinate and train permanent and contract farm workers and apprentices.
• Oversee facilities, equipment maintenance, agronomy and herd feeding across multiple buildings and 110+ hectares.
• Negotiate contracts, prepare RFPs, evaluate vendor proposals and ensure accurate invoice coding in Workday.
• Ensure milk production complies with the Milk Industry Act and HACCP food‑safety standards.
• Implement and update Environmental Farm Plans, Nutrient Management Plans and waste‑management practices in line with the Waste Management Act.
• Lead safety programs, chair safety meetings and manage the Centre’s disaster‑response plan.
