About the role
The company is seeking a Business Development Manager to capture growth opportunities that the current team cannot fully pursue. Based in Montreal, the role combines relationship building with retail buyers, data‑driven product optimization, and hands‑on supply‑chain coordination.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with retail buyers; lead customer meetings over time.
- Own retailer promotion calendars and budgets, managing commercial relationships end‑to‑end.
- Conduct competitive analysis and identify new product opportunities across olive, avocado, and adjacent oils.
- Analyze sales data from Circana/IRI, Nielsen, and retailer platforms to optimize and grow current SKUs.
- Partner with supply chain on inventory, new product development, and execution.
- Travel to Italy and Spain twice yearly for supplier visits and production oversight.
- Apply retail math, currency awareness, Excel, and retailer data platforms to drive results.
- Develop subject‑matter expertise in olive and avocado oil.
Required profile
- 5‑10 years of experience in business development, commercial sales, or consumer goods, preferably with large‑format retail exposure.
- Background in a broker, distributor, or import/marketing company is a strong plus.
- Entrepreneurial mindset; operates like an owner with minimal hierarchy.
- Strong commercial acumen, data fluency, and excellent communication with senior retail buyers.
- Collaborative, highly adaptable, and genuinely curious about the category.
- Fluent English (required); bilingual French/English is an asset.
- Based in Montreal or willing to relocate; comfortable with regular domestic and international travel.
