Building Technician

About the role

ALMAG is seeking a Building Technician to support the day‑to‑day upkeep, safety and functionality of its facilities. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will perform a variety of general maintenance tasks across multiple trade areas in a small‑to‑moderate scope environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance, including minor repairs to doors, fixtures and interior spaces.
• Maintain and repair washroom fixtures and accessories.
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks on facility equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of critical building systems and report deficiencies.
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers.
• Assist with furniture assembly, workspace setups and light carpentry.
• Perform painting, surface touch‑ups and fabricate fixtures or guards as needed.
• Maintain external areas, including garbage removal and snow clearing.
• Monitor and replace office and plant lighting, oversee roof drainage and sprinkler system checks.
• Support small projects and facility improvements across multiple buildings.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 10 education or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of general maintenance or building support experience (preferred).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and work standing, walking, bending and climbing throughout the shift.
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

• Basic mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving ability.
