Bilingual Accountant – Intermediate Level

About the role

Our client, a market leader in Canadian distribution of audiovisual communication solutions, is seeking a bilingual Intermediate Accountant to support the CFO. The role involves general accounting duties, inventory accounting, accounts payable and data analysis within a fast‑growing, warehousing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Operations Manager to maintain accurate inventory, perform cycle counts, and resolve discrepancies.
• Enforce sales and expense policies, reclassify expenses, and capture ITCs on expense reports.
• Execute month‑end activities including balance‑sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepaid adjustments and margin analysis.
• Manage full‑cycle accounts receivable: credit analysis, payment application, cheque deposits and collections.
• Identify and implement operational and financial improvements to accounting systems, policies and procedures.
• Prepare and submit reports to government agencies and vendors (e.g., CRA, EPRA).
• Conduct ad‑hoc analysis using advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables and lookups for margin, commission or SPIFF calculations.
• Invoice, track and collect for DataVisual events and marketing development funds.
• Develop and maintain strong internal controls and uphold accounting principles.

Required profile

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a warehousing or distribution setting.
• Self‑starter with ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Recently obtained or pursuing a CPA designation, or equivalent accounting experience.

Required skills

• Advanced/Expert Excel, including pivot tables and lookup functions.
• Proficiency with Zoho Books or other cloud‑based accounting and CRM software.
• Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, accounts payable and receivable processes.
