Bartender & Server - The Dorset

About the role

The Dorset, inspired by the charm of England's Dorset countryside, offers an approachable yet elevated dining experience with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. This hybrid role is primarily behind the bar, preparing drinks promptly and efficiently while upholding O&B standards, but also calls for stepping onto the floor as a server when needed. The position is full-time and based in Toronto.

Key responsibilities

• Create a positive guest experience through warm interaction and consistent adherence to the steps of service
• Maintain thorough knowledge of all food and beverage items to make confident recommendations
• Receive drink orders promptly and prepare all beverages according to O&B standards
• Present beverages clearly and in an organized manner at the service bar-pick-up area
• Communicate beverage descriptions, features and specials to guests and team members
• Support the floor as a server: greet guests, take food and beverage orders and deliver attentive table service
• Set up and break down the bar area, dishwasher and espresso machine
• Stock and maintain all bar products, including mise en place
• Monitor and maintain beer keg and liquor levels
• Count and record inventory of beverages and supplies, and assist the manager with ordering
• Stay informed of special requests, including guest allergies
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of bartending experience in a similar environment
• Previous serving experience required; restaurant service is an asset
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift and move beer kegs, liquor and wine cases
• Availability on evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
• Legally eligible to work in Canada

Required skills

• Excellent knowledge of wine, beer and classic cocktails
• Experience with cocktail batching is an asset
• Passion for food, beverage and exceptional guest service
