Backhoe Operator

About the role

Blackbear Excavating Ltd. is seeking a skilled Backhoe Operator to join our Vancouver team. You will operate a range of heavy equipment on diverse construction and site‑preparation projects, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Operate backhoe excavators, loaders, and front‑end loaders to perform backfilling, ditching, excavation, fine grading, land clearing, landscaping, snow removal, stockpiling, and trenching.
• Follow project plans and safety protocols while maintaining a clean driving record.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections, perform basic maintenance, and report any issues promptly.
• Coordinate with site supervisors to align work with schedule and quality standards.

Required profile

• 3 to less than 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
• Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification or equivalent trades certificate/diploma.
• Valid driver’s licence, own transportation, and a clear driving‑record check.
• Physically demanding work capability and strong attention to detail.
