Automotive Service Technician

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Automotive Service Technician to join Total Auto Service in Waterloo, ON. The position involves diagnosing, repairing and maintaining commercial transport trucks and automotive systems in a garage environment.

Key responsibilities

• Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck and automotive systems.
• Inspect, test and diagnose mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions.
• Review work orders, perform scheduled maintenance and road‑test vehicles.
• Confirm findings and discuss repairs with the supervisor.
• Complete detailed reports and provide customer service.
• Coach and instruct apprentices on technical procedures.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in automotive or truck‑trailer service.
• Trade certification as an Automotive Service Technician.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dirty and noisy garage environment.
• Dependable team player with strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Diagnosing mechanical faults using diagnostic equipment.

• Performing road tests and scheduled maintenance.
• Inspecting and testing mechanical units to manufacturer specifications.
• Using hand tools and safety equipment such as steel‑toed boots.
