Associate Head, Academics and Principal, Middle & Senior School

About the role

The York School, an independent International Baccalaureate World School in Toronto, is seeking senior educational leaders for two key positions: Associate Head, Academics and Principal of the Middle & Senior School. Both roles are integral to delivering high‑quality JK‑12 learning experiences and advancing the school’s strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for teaching and learning across the JK‑12 programme.
• Translate the school’s strategic plan into academic practice and continuous improvement.
• Lead curriculum design, pedagogy, assessment frameworks and faculty development initiatives.
• Oversee professional learning, evidence‑informed innovation and compliance with accreditation requirements.
• Foster a collaborative culture that values shared expertise and collective problem‑solving.
• For the Principal role, manage day‑to‑day operations of the Middle & Senior School and support the Associate Head in implementing academic priorities.

Required profile

• Extensive progressive educational leadership experience, including oversight of academic programmes and faculty.
• Deep knowledge of contemporary curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and faculty development.
• Proven ability to translate vision into action and develop other leaders.
• Strong emotional intelligence, sound judgement and visible presence in the school community.
• Experience in independent, international or IB school environments is an asset.
