Associate Corporate Buyer

About the role
The City of Toronto is seeking two Associate Corporate Buyers to support its Purchasing & Materials Management division. Working on a hybrid schedule, you will assist senior buyers in delivering efficient, compliant procurement services for municipal operations.
Key responsibilities
- Support Corporate Buyers in developing competitive procurement processes and preparing product specifications.
- Edit and process requisitions, conduct invitational call processes, and liaise with suppliers on delivery and quality.
- Operate the City’s automated purchasing system (e.g., SAP, Ariba) to create purchase orders, quotation requests, and contract renewals.
- Evaluate bid summaries, ensure compliance with policies, and forward documentation for review.
- Maintain procurement databases, respond to inquiries, and prepare administrative reports.
Required profile
- Certificate from a recognized purchasing program or equivalent education/experience.
- Practical purchasing experience, preferably in a municipal environment.
- Familiarity with purchasing policies, non‑competitive procurements, and purchase order amendments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle peak‑period workloads.
