Assistant Training Coordinator

About the role

The Assistant Training Coordinator supports the University of British Columbia’s Animal Care Services by helping to deliver campus‑wide training on laboratory animal science. The role ensures that all training, education, and research involving animals complies with CCAC and university regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and support training programs, courses, and workshops for laboratory personnel, industry partners, and ACS staff.
• Set up and clean up training activities and venues.
• Assist in delivering educational sessions covering handling, restraint, injection, blood sampling, anesthesia, euthanasia, gavage, husbandry, and surgical techniques.
• Ensure compliance with Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) guidelines at both Vancouver and Okanagan campuses.
• Provide consistent, high‑quality animal care in line with established research protocols.
• Perform duties related to technical research services as required.

Required profile

• Reports to the Training Manager and may take direction from Training Coordinators.
• Ability to work collaboratively with training and veterinary teams.
• Familiarity with CCAC guidelines and animal research regulations.
