Assistant Project Manager – Infrastructure Projects

About the role

Valard Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join its Infrastructure Solutions group in Edmonton. Reporting to the Project Manager (Project Development and Support), you will help drive large electrical infrastructure projects across Canada, ensuring schedules, budgets, and stakeholder communications stay on track.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop, maintain, and report on project schedules, milestones, and execution plans.
• Support procurement and subcontractor management, including quote evaluation, commitment tracking, and performance monitoring.
• Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly project reporting to senior leadership.
• Track project costs, prepare invoices, forecast variances, and assist with financial performance reporting.
• Serve as the day‑to‑day point of contact for clients, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and project partners.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least 3 years of experience in project management or coordination within construction or infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of project management principles, schedule, cost, and change management.
• Working towards or holding a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data tracking, reporting, and financial analysis.
