Assistant Professor – Substance Use & Addiction Medicine (Implementation Science)

About the role

The University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, in partnership with the British Columbia Centre for Substance Use (BCCSU), seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor specializing in implementation science and evaluation for substance use and addiction medicine. The position is part of the health outcomes theme, specifically the Collaboration for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) group.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead research programs on implementation science, evaluation, epidemiology, health economics, and health policy related to substance use and addiction.
• Collaborate with national and international partners, including pharmaceutical and health‑outcomes researchers.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students, and contribute to curriculum development.
• Secure external funding, publish scholarly work, and engage with BCCSU to translate research into policy and practice.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g., public health, health services research, epidemiology, health economics).
• Demonstrated expertise in implementation science and evaluation of substance‑use interventions.
• Strong record of scholarly activity and potential to obtain competitive research funding.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and research.
