Assistant Professor of Teaching – Systems (Tenure‑Track)

About the role

The University of British Columbia invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Teaching in Systems, starting July 1, 2027. The position focuses on delivering and further developing the department’s systems courses, with a preference for expertise in operating systems and computer architecture. Applicants with backgrounds in networking, distributed systems, database systems, cloud computing, or systems security are also welcome.

Key responsibilities

• Teach four course sections per year (typically two in fall and two in spring) and continuously improve curriculum content.
• Engage in educational leadership through service, scholarly activity, and initiatives that extend impact beyond the classroom.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field (candidates completing their Ph.D. are encouraged to apply).
• Demonstrated commitment to high‑quality undergraduate teaching, equity, diversity, inclusion, and promise of educational leadership.

What we offer

• Salary range of $150,000‑$175,000 CAD per year.
